Prop 8 Is Cool!

The Scene: Two teenagers meet in a high school hallway and high five.

Dude 1: Dude, what's up?
Dude 2: Not much dude how you doin'?
Dude 1: You know what I worry about?
Dude 2: Global Warming? The growing national deficit? Falling test scores in the inner-city? Terrorists?
Dude 1: No, I worry that allowing homosexuals to get married will diminish the value of any future marriage I might have.
Dude 2: That is pretty scary, what can we do?
Dude 1: We can log on to iProtectMarriage.com and join all the really cool kids that are out there fighting prop 8. The website is totally cool, it's designed to speak to me and it totally gets me. You can tell it's cool because they put the lowercase "i" at the front, like in iPod.
Dude 2: I will so totally have to log on and check it out, seeming as I am a teenager and totally concerned about this sort of thing.

...That site is wholly depressing. I just have a hard time believing that people are so willing to work against other's rights.

Wow, I just read this Q&A on that site:

Q: Isn't banning gay marriage just like banning interracial marriage?

A: It's completely unrelated. Blacks who endured prejudice can't wake up in the morning and not be black. None of us can be counseled out of our race or ethnicity. But homosexual behavior is a choice, and countless gays and lesbians have left the homosexual lifestyle.

And the funny thing is, I use the EXACT OPPOSITE logic when I defend gay marriage; a person can't just "change" their sexual orientation, it's who they are, as much as their ethnicity makes them who they are. Sites like these disappoint my hope of society.

I know! Any argument I have ever heard against gay marriage is based on religion and/or the idea that sexuality is a choice. It's ridiculous, depressing, and tiring, but at least I know things will change!
